Exploring the Influence of Self-Efficacy and Autonomy on Outdoor Recreation Behaviors during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Outdoor Recreation (OR) provides the benefits of physical activity (PA) and traditional leisure placed in an outdoor environment. Motivation, self-efficacy, autonomy can increase depending on social This study explored relationship between self-efficacy OR behaviors identified barriers supporters to during COVID-19 pandemic. Survey information was collected from 995 U.S. adults (93.6% white, 64.0% female) regarding behaviors, changes COVID-19, self-perceptions. Significant positive correlations existed (r = 0.138, p < 0.01), pre/post pandemic 2020 0.158, 0.129, 0.01) respectively. Qualitative data implied as: social, psychological health, increased or changed OR/PA. Implications this research are beneficial health professionals promote overall well-being for participants.
